What happens at the consultation?
Dr. Thandroyen spends a full hour with you. It is a thorough, classic bedside evaluation with an extensive discussion and management of your conditions.
How do I get my report?
Complete findings are sent to the referring physician.
Do you bill insurance?
No. We are a self-pay practice and accept cash, check, and credit card. For private insurance, we provide you with a diagnosis code and a billing code that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We have opted out of Medicare. You will sign a waiver indicating you cannot submit the bill to Medicare.
What is an echocardiogram?
An ultrasound of the heart. It uses sound waves to create moving pictures of the heart.
What is a duplex ultrasound?
An ultrasound of blood vessels. It shows the vessel and how blood is moving through it. We offer duplex studies of the carotid, abdominal aorta, arm and leg arteries, kidney arteries, mesenteric arteries, and veins.
What is the difference between Holter and event monitoring?
Both are wearable monitors that record your heart rhythm. Holter monitoring runs 7–14 days. Ask us which fits your symptoms.
What is an ankle brachial index (ABI)?
A simple test that compares blood pressure at your ankle with your arm.

Extensive expertise and experience in cardiology and vascular medicine.
53 years practicing medicine, including 48 years as a cardiologist.
Dr. Thandroyen is committed to the highest quality of care, detailed history with comprehensive classical bedside clinical examination of heart, lungs, vascular, abdomen, and brain. Extensive discussion and management of each patient’s conditions. He is skilled in complex primary, secondary, and tertiary cardiology and vascular medicine, with expertise in noninvasive imaging, especially echocardiography and all modalities of vascular imaging.
Consultation: one full hour spent with the patient by Dr. Thandroyen.

Our responsibilities
We are required by law, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and South Carolina law, to maintain the privacy and security of your protected health information (PHI). We must give you this notice, follow its terms, and tell you promptly if a breach occurs that may have compromised your information. We will not use or share your information other than as described here unless you tell us in writing that we may. You may change your mind at any time by telling us in writing.
How we may use and disclose your information
- Treatment. To provide and coordinate your care, including sharing information with other physicians and providers involved in your care, and with testing and imaging partners.
- Payment. To collect payment for our services. We are a self-pay practice and do not bill insurance.
- Health care operations. To run our practice, including quality review, staff training, scheduling, and legal and business services.
- Appointment and care communications. To contact you about appointments, results, and follow-up, using the phone number or address you gave us.
- Required or permitted by law. For public health activities, reporting of abuse, neglect, or domestic violence, health oversight, court orders and legal proceedings, law enforcement, preventing a serious threat to health or safety, workers’ compensation, coroners and funeral directors, organ and tissue donation, approved research, military and veterans activities, and national security.
When we need your written authorization
We need your written authorization for most uses of psychotherapy notes, for marketing, and for any sale of your information. Any other use or disclosure not described in this notice also requires your authorization, which you may revoke in writing at any time.
Your rights
- Inspect and copy. You may ask to see or get a copy of your medical record, including an electronic copy. We will respond within 30 days and may charge a reasonable cost-based fee.
- Amend. You may ask us to correct information you believe is wrong or incomplete. We may deny the request, and we will tell you why in writing.
- Accounting of disclosures. You may ask for a list of certain disclosures we made of your information over the past six years.
- Request restrictions. You may ask us to limit how we use or share your information. We are not required to agree, except that if you pay for a service in full out of pocket, you may ask us not to share information about that service with your health plan, and we will agree.
- Confidential communications. You may ask us to contact you in a certain way or at a certain place, and we will accommodate reasonable requests.
- Paper copy of this notice. You may ask for a paper copy at any time.
- Be notified of a breach. We will notify you if your information is involved in a breach.
Complaints
If you believe your privacy rights were violated, you may file a complaint with us or with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/complaints, 1-800-368-1019). We will not retaliate against you for filing a complaint.
